Food Partnerships - School food action
Description
Across the region, our food partnerships are finding creative and impactful ways to work with schools to improve food education, sustainability, and access to healthy local produce.
In Shropshire, the Schools Food Web initiative has supported schools to strengthen their food systems through practical training and resources — from cooking and growing to foraging, taste testing, composting, and food waste management. In just one year, the project has helped schools reduce their carbon footprint, save money, and increase access to fresh, local food.
In Herefordshire, partnerships are taking children out onto farms to connect them directly with food production, while in Monmouthshire, a full calendar of school food growing activities is inspiring pupils and teachers alike.
Meanwhile in Powys, one school has been taken on a “journey through time” to explore how food systems have changed — with pupils sharing their own vision for the future directly with policymakers.
Join us to hear these stories, ask your questions, and be inspired to bring more food system education into schools across our region.
